Knucklehead's Saloon, Kansas City's premier live music venue, and WorldWideRetro.com have combined efforts to produce an event you will be talking about for the rest of the year. The Seventh Annual ROCKABILLY PROM
is set for Saturday March 27, 2010. Heading up a remarkable card is Rock and Roll Legend, the Queen of Rockabilly, WANDA JACKSON!
Wanda is a member of the Rockabilly Hall of Fame and has been tearing it up since 1954 with groundbreaking hits like Let's Have A Party,
Fujiyama Mama, Right Or Wrong,
and Mean Mean Man. Her unique vocals and powerful stage presence and energy have been keeping audiences rockin' for over 50 years!
If seeing a living legend isn't enough to drag your arse off the couch Frank Hicks and the tireless folks at Knucklehead's have also booked two of the foremost high energy Rockabilly-Honkey Tonk acts in America to keep the joint jumpin' well in to the night! For more than two decades the Texas phenomenon TWO TONS OF STEEL have been wowing audiences around the world.
"If there's one thing Texans love, it's a good party. But if you ask self-respecting Lone Star carousers what turns a bash into a blast, they won't say beer or barbecue. They know it all comes down to the music. And there's one band that can rouse revelers like no other: Two Tons of Steel".
Rounding out the impressive list of performers will be LUCKY TUBB AND THE MODERN DAY TROUBADOURS! Lucky Tubb is the great nephew of the legendary honky tonk singer, Ernest Tubb. Ernest was one of the biggest stars in country music history who amassed no fewer than 82 hits between 1944 and 1979.
He comes from the Wayne Hancock, Hank III school of hillbilly, happy to tour the bye-roads of small town America in the tradition of the likes of Tubb and Bill Monroe. He isn't just making a living as an uncle Ernest tribute singer, Lucky Tubb is very much his own man. He's lived a troublesome life and has his own story to tell. He's toured as opening act for Dwight Yoakam, Ray Price and Hank III.
This is one of the most impressive Rockabilly-Honkey Tonk line ups to hit the Heartland in years. Place them with the background of Kansas City's own world famous ROCKABILLY PROM and you have a years worth of entertainment packed in to one evening!
